La Lic. Maria M. Khury es una empresaria y líder comunitaria que emigró a los Estados Unidos desde su lugar de nacimiento en Puerto Plata, Republica Dominicana cuando era niña. Es fundadora, presidenta, licenciada y directora ejecutiva de varias empresas en las industrias de turismo, seguros comerciales y privados, profesional de impuestos y asesora en temas de política y negocios.
La Lic. Khury es la primera mujer y accionista dominicana elegida presidenta de ALTA
(American Latin Travel Agents.) Con sede principal en Nueva Jersey y oficinas en numerosos estados de los Estados Unidos. ALTA celebra 52 años en septiembre.
Maria se enorgullece de haber sido elegida presidenta del grandioso National Dominican Day Parade, Inc. (Desfile Nacional Dominicano) celebrado en Manhattan, New York City en el 2017 y hoy dia asesora principal de esta organización nacional de 38 años sin fines de lucro que fue reconstituida por la oficina del fiscal general del estado de NY. Bajo su liderazgo, el Programa de Becas creció 4 veces al otorgar USD$200,000 a 51 estudiantes merecedores en todo el país y contribuciones de USD$12,000 al orfanato Maestro Cares en Republica Dominicana.
Las innumerables contribuciones de la Lic. Khury a su comunidad incluyen servir como presidente y
oficial en las Juntas de varias organizaciones importante comunitarias, nombramos algunas;
Schervier / Bon Secours (Presidente de Auditoría, Etica y Cumplimiento), Bronx Community Board 8;
Hospital y Servicios Sociales y Desarrollo Económico y primer Vicepresidenta Hispana de la Junta y
primera vicepresidenta de Amigos de Niños Libres de Plomo, Tesorera del Distrito de Mejoramiento
Comercial de negocios en Kingsbridge, Miembro de la Junta de la Asociación Audubon,
Vicepresidenta de la Armería de Kingsbridge y Presidenta y Cofundadora de MCLAC (Manhattan
College Consejo de Alumnos Latinos.)
La Lic. Khury ha sido reconocida por su trabajo en muchas ocasiones con numerosas proclamaciones de funcionarios electos y por entidades que ha representado en los sectores público y privado, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional.
Es graduada de la universidad católica Manhattan College en Riverdale, NY, Magna-Cum-Laude con
una Licenciatura en Ciencias en Administración de Empresas, y fue la primera mujer en recibir la
Medalla de Excelencia en Administración “De La Salle.”
Madre de tres exitosos profesionales y generosos hijos, es lo que Maria considera su mayor logro; los gemelos Carlos Manuel, Lark-Marie y su pequeña Mayrin Maria Anton.
El legado y la generación continúa, ya que ella es la joven abuela de 5 nietos; Amelia, Daniel,
Sophia Menchini, Valentina Randazzo y Victoria Anton.
Ms.Maria M. Khury is a businesswoman and community leader who emigrated to the United States from her birthplace in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic when she was a child. She is the founder, president, licensed, and executive director of several companies in the tourism, commercial and private insurance industries, a tax professional, and adviser on business and policy issues.
Ms. Khury is the first Dominican woman and shareholder elected president of ALTA
(American Latin Travel Agents.) Headquartered in New Jersey and offices in numerous states in the United States. ALTA celebrates 52 years in September.
Maria is proud to have been elected president of the National Dominican Day Parade, Inc. in 2017 . The parade is held in Manhattan and is today Senior Advisor to this 38-year-old national non-profit organization that was reconstituted by the NY state attorney general’s office. Under her leadership, the Scholarship Program grew 4 times by awarding USD $ 200,000 to 51 deserving students across the country and contributions of USD $ 12,000 to the Maestro Cares orphanage in the Dominican Republic.
Ms. Khury’s countless contributions to her community include serving as president and
officer in the Boards of several important community organizations, to name a few;
Schervier / Bon Secours (President of Audit, Ethics and Compliance), Bronx Community Board 8;
Hospital and Social Services and Economic Development and first Hispanic Vice President of the Board and First Vice President of Friends of Lead Free Children, Treasurer of the Business Improvement District at Kingsbridge, Board Member of the Audubon Partnership,
Vice President of the Kingsbridge Armory and President and Co-Founder of MCLAC (Manhattan
College Council of Latino Students.)
Ms. Khury has been recognized for her work on many occasions with numerous proclamations by elected officials and by entities she has represented in the public and private sectors, both nationally and internationally.
She is a graduate of Manhattan College, a Catholic University in Riverdale, NY, Magna-Cum-Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and was the first woman to receive the
“De La Salle” Medal of Excellence in Business Management.
Mother of three successful professionals and generous children, is what Maria considers her greatest achievement; twins Carlos Manuel, Lark-Marie and Mayrin Maria Anton.
The legacy and generation continues, as she is the young grandmother of 5 grandchildren; Amelia, Daniel, Sophia Menchini, Valentina Randazzo and Victoria Anton.
